About the ‘Point Break’ Interactive Experience


Warner Bros. Pictures partnered with Rapt Media to create a series of interactive videos to promote its release of the “Point Break” film, in theaters Christmas Day, 2015. The interactive experiences incorporate immersive 3D content that viewers can interact and engage with to go behind the scenes and experience the movie’s action first-hand.

Using satellite imagery, topo maps, and custom 3D models integrated with data in the video to augment the video content and provide insight into the athletes, stunts, and shoots, Rapt Media helped Warner Bros. create one-of-a-kind digital experiences that allow viewers to immerse themselves in the action adventure film’s extreme sports — performed by best-in-class athletes representing everything from wingsuit flying to big mountain snowboarding — and behind-the-scenes footage.

Rapt Media’s technology was used to illustrate the complexity and danger of the stunts, and the power of WebGL allowed them to perform complex 3D rendering inside the browser — something that has not been done before.
